UK’s number one Anglo Cuban band, The Swanvesta Social Club formed in 2007 in the Latin Quarter of St Albans. They have released two albums: “Never Mind the Bongos” and “The inauthentic sound of Cuba” (still available on Amazon and iTunes). They have twice topped the Sounclick World Cuban Charts.
Their horn and percussion heavy music mingles original material, traditional Latin numbers such as Guantanamera, and Cuban versions of pop songs such as “I gotta Feeling“, “Save a prayer” and “Can’t get you out of my head”. The Swanvestas are noted for their live performances at festivals. These have included, Rhythms of The World, The Acoustic Festival of Britain, and Three Rivers Festival among others where they have played alongside artists such as Fairport Convention, Seth Lakeman, Matt Cardle and The Animals.
This autumn they will release a new EP “Time flies when you’re having Rum”. It is now their pleasure to bring Latin Rhythms to Croxfest.
